MetSpeak is an automated phone line connected to the automatic weather station at Brixworth.  A pre-recorded message is updated every 15 minutes with the very latest weather information which includes current temperature, dew point, relative humidity, cloud base, wind chill, wind (direction and speed, including extremes over the past 15 minutes and 12 hours), barometric pressure (reduced to sea level), duration of bright sunshine and rainfall (in the previous 15 minutes and over the past 12 hours). The system uses hardware and software designed and manufactured by Instromet Ltd.

The full message lasts for approximately 90 seconds and runs on a continuous loop. Weather information is only uploaded to MetSpeak when the automated weather station is operational ensuring that only current data is available. MetSpeak continues to run when the system is offline making present weather data from Pitsford always available regardless of network or server issues.  For up-to-date information on call charges please contact your network provider. MetSpeak is not a premium line number and the weather station does not make a charge for using this service.

If you need to receive regular updates of weather data through the day, you can register for sms text messaging. The automatic weather station will send a text message containing the latest information to your mobile phone as soon as it is captured every 3 hours during the day. To register for text messages, please email the station directly.

Users are reminded that MetSpeak does not operate as an answerphone and there is no facility to leave a message. Should you need to contact the weather station directly please telephone the main switcboard at Pitsford Hall on 01604 880306. If no one is available to take your call, you will be directed towards voice mail.
